It was either Martin Sargent’s Internet Superstar or Nalt’s blog that got me turned on to Daisy…and I mean “turned on” in a good and friendly, non-creepy kind of way.

Daisy is a new media journalist, whose blog and video podcast “the new media minute” have all the hallmarks of big-time success and are avidly followed by internet video geeks like me and this guy. So I came to the party late, as it were, since shes been doing her thing for almost two years (well, the blog part anyway) but I’ve made up for it by reading all her posts back to 2006. And let me tell ya, it’s worth the time invested…Brown University don’t put out no dummies (perhaps some weirdos, but not dummies).

But that’s not why we’re here. I’m not going to ramble on to you about Daisy’s hair or boobs - like other netizens on other blogs…but I will give her show the “big review“. Here it goes:

The Good:

  • She has great sources and gets the goods about what’s happening in the online video world faster than most
  • she generally has a good crew doing the filming, lighting and cutting so she comes across a lot more professional than say...SXEPhil
  • She’s got charisma and great camera poise that comes across very nicely…this format isn’t for everyone (as we have seen)

The Bad

  • I’m getting creeped out about the clasped hands thing…seriously Daisy, it’s ok to let them hang down
  • She’s gotten into the video review racket…which is a direct threat to me, damn it…once a week she accepts nominations from the first five people to contact her after she sends the request out over twitter.
  • “I’m Daisy Whitney for the New Media Minute, follow-me on Twitter and front me up on Facebook”…I keep expecting her to say “…and you’ve just been Philled in

The show is, actually a bit too short…and I say this knowing that the format usually support shorter shows rather than longer ones - but it’d be nice to have more meat..but then they’d have to change the name to “the new media quarter-hour” or something…so, never mind.

In any case, I’m an avid reader and RSS subscriber (I’ve not quite gotten the time or interest to Twitter, but if I did I’d stalk her there too). to be very honest, if you’re even marginally interested in the business of online video, than you must be watching (and reading) Daisy.

The Bottom Line:

5 stars for Daisy’s New Media Minute, If you’re not watching, it’s your own fault if you miss the good stuff.

No wimping out, dude … your fans demand a review of Daisy’s hair and boobs!

Note: Daisy may be blonde and her hand clasping may cover up some great assets (don’t let the children read this, Daisy) but she’s right, see your Reviews section (bottom right), “5 - avoid at all costs”, time for an amendment maybe.

@Daisy - When will you review us?!?! We just hit a million views yesterday since going live mid Aug 08 … maybe now?
