I just caught up with episode 5 (out of 7) of this super slick web noir series. My complaints about the thin story line have been somewhat diminished. Things have certainly picked up. The only disappointment so far has been that Madsen really only ever showed up in the first two episodes. Since then, it’s just been him in a hospital bed (in the titular coma) or re-hashed scenes of him getting shot.
Well…it’s also pretty annoying that the episodes seem to be composed of about 50% intro and credits, 10% what happened last time and only 40% of actual new story…but what are you gonna do?
Despite my bitching, I really do enjoy the show. It’s a fabulously shot video (using Sony equipment – so I hear), the acting is 100% pro and the editing, post-production work is drop-dead gorgeous. And, it’s got one of the best online video theme songs I’ve heard (“Oh Shooter” by Robin Thicke).
Frankly, it’s still the look (and sound) of the show that has me interested and not the plot. Sure I’m kinda curious about who set LEnnox (Madsen) up and it’ll be interesting to see the corrupt mayor (George Hamilton) get his comeuppance. But if the production were any less good, I’d have turned off after ep. 2.
The Bottom Line:
