Infamous is another show plowing past the typical online video comedy gig and shooting for something darker. We’ve been seeing more and more of these lately (the League anyone?) and that’s a good sign.The scene is exploding and as more people come into it they are trying to replicate the things they like and know do well in the traditional television and film.
We all know the stories about struggling actors and actresses doing crappy day jobs till they hit is big. Some wait tables, some tend bar, others strip. Tom and Anthony are hitmen for “Comquest” a corporate assassination team.
The first three episodes are marked by an attempt at witty, light dialogue mixed with scenes of murder and a little female flesh. It could work. Tarantino makes it work and It’s so close to working here, but somehow, it just doesn’t come across right. Perhaps its the talent (AJ Wedding and Craig Bonacorsi, who are also the creators of the show) who don’t quite pull it off. I just don’t buy it that these guys are killers.
Then again, maybe it’s not the acting maybe it’s the mixed context, comedy is hard to pull off right – dark comedy seems to be harder still.
Here’s the trailer (Hat’s off to Pulp Fiction)
Despite all my bitching about it not quite clicking, Infamous is slick, very well produced and well worth watching.The pros (and 60 Frames who are carrying the show) are once again putting the bar higher in online video quality – hope some of the Youtube cool kids are paying attention: QUALTIY COUNTS!.
The Bottom Line:

Agreed!
The quality of the video looks really nice, but I don’t make them out for killers either.

I guess I sort of disagree…I thought they were really funny. And I don’t need to buy them as killers. The joke seems to be more about the fact that they are not typical killers, they are actors… and that this is what it takes to make it in hollywood? Being able to loosen your last remaining moral fibre? Anyone else see that?

@Jared
you make a good point and I should go back and review the show again as they’ve put out several new episodes since I last reviewed them….we’ll see if I change my mind about them.
