Watching an episode of Liam Lynch’s Lynchland is a whole lot like taking acid. You may already have an idea of what I’m talking about it you’ve seen some of his mainstream work like MTV’s Sifl and Olly show, The Tenacious D movie and, of course, the United States of Whatever song. He’s a strange and strangely talented guy and his podcast/show reflects that.
With no discernible format other than the intro and outro, an episode of Lynchland is likely to take you from hand-puppet aliens to tongue-in-cheek death metal videos. He lets his imagination run-absolutely wild and he has the technical skills to realize what he imagines. Check out a sample:
I enjoy watching this accomplished musician and filmmaker, but absurdism is not for everyone. If you don’t get Monty Python you probably won’t get Liam. And that’s a pretty good way to sum up what Liam is all about: he’s a post-modern, Python-esque artist.
One interesting thing to note, although Liam distributes his content online, his primary distribution venue is not a video aggregation sites like Youtube, Blip.tv or Vimeo, it’s through RSS feeds. I’m not sure what the monitization model on that is, but that’s probably not something that he worries about.
the Bottom Line:
