Neil passes out one night in the midst of auto-asphyxiation during a Legend of Zelda induced masturbation session. When he wakes up, he’s actually in the game. Yes, my friends, it’s THAT KIND OF SHOW.

Personally, I laughed my ass off. It may not be your thing, however. This ain’t high-brow humor and if you can’t giggle at someone dressed up as Zelda barfing up his hangover or delight in a sex scene between a 6 inch fairy and a full grown man – you just won’t get the show. So stop reading right now and go check out something more your speed.

Those of you still here are in for a a good laugh with the Legend of Neil.

We’re at the halfway point in the series, I think (3 of 6 that’s, like, half, isn’t it?) and I’m really looking forward to the next ones.

There’s lots to like about this show:

  • the storyline is just really clever (and yes, I think auto-asphyxiation with a Nintendo cord is clever, not to mention jerking-off to a game)
  • the campiness of the costumes and sets
  • the acting (Tony Janning and  Mike Rose) and the dialogue
  • the music (thank you Robert Harrington!)

Of course, there are a few things that could have been just a tad-bit better (or which out-right sucked, I am a critic after all)

  • the editing is not all that smooth. I went back and checked the credits for the editing and, low-and behold the writer, director, producer Sandeep Parikh also took over the role of editor. Sorry Sandeep, you’re a talent guy, but editing doesn’t seem to be your strong suit or you just too busy with all the other things.
  • is it just me, or do the lighting differences from shoot to shoot annoy anyone else? naah, it’s probably just me.

I’ll save you the the episode-by-episode run down till the final episode is out and I do my final review of the show. I will tell you that I’m having a hard time choosing a favourite episode out of the 3 which are currently live.

  • The first one takes you so much by surprise that it’s hard to beat because of that.
  • The second is simply hilarious in how game combat translates into real life (and I loved the rock-throwing, brown diaper wearing guys).
  • The third episode is absolutely awesome because of the fairy sex scene – Felicia Day surprised me again (and this is gonna be soooo much fuel for her fan-boy squad)

the Bottom Line:

4 out of 5 stars (yes, someday I’ll get myself some real stars)  but this is not my final word on the matter. I’m waiting for the last episodes before that. You really should be watching this show!
