but why?

Why Online Video Reviews?

Because Mr. Movieline has the feature film market covered.

Because the internet is becoming a bustling marketplace for John and Jane Normal to produce and distribute their original video content.

Because John and Jane Normal don’t have it easy getting any attention to their work and a lot of the stuff out there is worth getting out to a larger audience.

Because a lot of semi-pros (actors, writers,  directors, etc.) are using the net to out-play the studios or to make themselves look more attractive to the studios (“fuck the man!” or “make me the man!” respectively) and this is resulting in some excellent content being distributed – for free- online.

Because even more of the stuff out there should be deleted and never watched by anyone.

So, you’ll be reviewing videos of people falling down and generally making an ass of themselves?

No and Yes. I’m not interested in the one-off videos, you know, the kinds like the Star Wars Kid. Those are OK, but they are anomalies and not what I’m interested in.

I concentrate of those producers out there who are regularly putting out content and, yes, they oftentimes fall down and make asses of themselves. But these are the folks who are, eventually, going to make the medium of online video into something wonderful and new- stumbling, farting, ranting their way into the next great era of communication.

What Makes You An Authority?

the critic 2You don’t have to know how to build a car to recognize a well-built car.

You don’t  have to be a master chef to enjoy a great meal.

You don’t have to be Ron Jeremy to enjoy a good…oh never mind…

Who’s paying you to do this?

the critic 3nobody. I’m not affiliated with any of the content producers I review here and I’ve never even met anyone from a production company, so that ain’t it either.

Besides, anyone that professional wouldn’t want to be associated with me.

Come on, no one takes this much time to put something like this for free anymore, what do you get out of it?

About a year ago I noticed a shift in my media consumption habits, away from TV and Film and the critic 4towards online content. I’m not the only one.

And it’s easy to waste a lot of time looking for good stuff online. I figured it was time to put some of those thousands of “useless” hours searching for and enjoying good online video to good use.

Besides, this is a great way to get in contact with new content…more wasted hours watching my monitor! hell yeah!

What’s with that fucking hat?

bad hair dayuuuuummm…bad hair day.
